Meditating is more restful than sleeping

A person in a state of meditation consumes six times less oxygen than when sleeping.

But the effects on the brain go further. People who meditate every day and for more than ten years have a decrease in the production of adrenaline and cortisol. These are hormones associated with disorders such as anxiety, attention deficit and hyperactivity and stress.

In addition, meditators experience an increase in the production of endorphins. Hormones linked to the feeling of happiness.

The change in hormone production was observed by researchers from the Davis Center for Mind and Brain from the University of California.

They analyzed the level of adrenaline, cortisol and endorphins before and after a group of volunteers meditated.

Then they proved that the deeper the state of relaxation, the less stress hormones are produced. This positive effect does not last just while the person is meditating.

Studies on meditation

A study conducted by Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center, in North Carolina, put 15 volunteers to learn to meditate in four classes of 20 minutes each.

Brain activity was examined before and after sessions. In all those surveyed, a reduction in the activity of the amygdala, a region of the brain responsible for regulating emotions, was observed.

In addition, anxiety levels dropped 39%. For those who are already stressed, meditation works like a medicine.

Meditation is not just a technique

Meditations are many. They may differ in duration and method (in silence, chanting mantras, etc.). These variations, however, do not influence the final result, as the effect produced in the brain is similar.

Because in practice, meditation increases the activity of the anterior cingulate cortex (area linked to attention and concentration), the prefrontal cortex (linked to motor coordination) and the hippocampus (which stores memory).

Meditation also stimulates the amygdala, which regulates emotions and, when triggered, accelerates the functioning of the hypothalamus, responsible for the feeling of relaxation.

Studies also show that it has very specific applications.

But, unlike other alternative therapies that lack scientific proof, meditation is increasingly supported by research carried out by large institutions.

Proven benefits

Other proven benefits were in people with heart problems, in treating insomnia and mental disorders, in relieving pain, in strengthening the immune system and in improving concentration.

There are countless benefits of meditation!

If you are not familiar with tannic meditations, which use body movement to stop the mind, this may be a good time to start.

If you never wanted to meditate, because you always thought that meditation was very still, that you couldn't stand to do nothing, know that there are meditation methods for each type of person.

How is tantric meditation

In our space we use meditation techniques linked to active meditations by Osho, an Indian guru and a reference in modern tantric therapy.

Tantric meditation is based on movement, sound and breathing. Through the movement of the body, inducing sounds and breathing, we access special vibrational states.

This is a body work and very special for those who want to expand their awareness, develop their body sensoriality and live a lifestyle focused on the intuitive health of the body and soul.
